International Conference on Sustainable Tourism Mobility in Bolzano/Bozen

An international conference dedicated to sustainable tourism mobility in the Alpine region took place on 18 May at the auditorium of Eurac Research in Bolzano. The event, titled “Moving around the Alps: Towards a Sustainable Tourism Mobility”, was organised by the Italian Presidency of the Alpine Convention.

The conference opened with the greetings of the Secretary General of the Alpine Convention, Alenka Smerkolj, and the Mayor of Bolzano, Claudio Corrarati. Experts, institutions and international stakeholders gathered to discuss the future of tourism mobility in the Alps and the key challenges.

The event aimed to encourage the exchange of information, experiences and best practices in order to gain a deeper understanding of sustainable tourism policies and management approaches throughout the Alpine region, with a particular focus on sustainable mobility solutions. The discussions addressed several topics, including environmental pressures and impacts of tourism-related mobility, governance and institutional cooperation, planning and management strategies, as well as innovative monitoring initiatives and examples of best practices.

The conference confirmed its role as a valuable opportunity to strengthen dialogue and cooperation across the Alpine region and for advancing shared strategies for a more sustainable mobility system.
