The bright young minds of today for the mobility of tomorrow

What better way to shape the future of the Alpine region than by studying its present?

Thanks to the support of the Swiss Presidency of the Alpine Convention, the Young Academics Award (YAA) is back to highlight and reward the best master’s theses on topics related to sustainable development in the Alps.

The 2022 edition of the Award is dedicated to “Sustainable transport and mobility in the Alps”. The theme mirrors the current key priorities of the Swiss Presidency of the Alpine Convention.

“Young people are already showing how much they care about the environment and how much more still needs to be done! This year, the Young Academics Award will reward young people’s enthusiasm, their competence and their fresh ideas for innovative solutions on how to make Alpine transport more sustainable,” says Alpine Convention Secretary General Alenka Smerkolj.

The YAA gives young researchers an occasion to share their creative ideas and scientific work. The main category prizes are for papers that cover the full Alpine territory. Additionally, four “Infopoint prizes” from Domodossola (IT), Tolmin (SI), Villach (AT), and Mojstrana (SI) will be awarded for pieces of work that are thematically relevant and geographically dedicated to the Infopoint areas.

The deadline for applications is 30 June 2022.

The call and all relevant application information are available here. Good luck!
