Visit of delegates of the German Bundestag

Tuesday two delegates of the German Bundestag, Heidrun Bluhm and Steffen-Claudio Lemme accompanied by Dr. Ludwig Ries (German Environment Agency) and Olaf Riess visited the Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention in Innsbruck to get informed about the organization of the Alpine Convention and the implementation of its protocols. Of special interest was the coordination of alpine research projects, such as the WebGIS of the Alpine Convention, the Reports on the State of the Alps and the potential of the Virtual Alpine Observatory.

General Secretary Reiterer appreciated the interest of the parliamentarians on the Alpine Convention and stated: “A deepened collaboration with Members of Parliaments would contribute to increase the understanding of Alpine challenges and to commonly work on sustainable solutions.”
