Meetings with the German Delegation

This Tuesday Secretary General Ambassador Markus Reiterer met the new Head of the German Delegation to the Alpine Convention Mr. Martin Weiß in the premises of the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) in Berlin. The continuation of the good cooperation between the BMU and the Permanent Secretariat as well as the work of the Conventions bodies in preparation of the upcoming XV. Alpine Conference in April 2019 were the main items of discussion.

In combination a meeting with the German Delegation and the Observer Organizations of the Alpine Convention Alliance in the Alps, Alpine Town of the Year, ALPARC, CIPRA International about current and future cooperation to foster the implementation of the Alpine Convention “on the ground” took place. In this framework the current status of projects which are financed or co-financed by Germany to support the implementation of the Alpine Convention in all Alpine Countries like PlurAlpsGaYaBeeAwareWeWild,ALPBIONET, YPAC and Reading Mountains were presented. “I truly appreciate this engaged and forward-looking approach by Germany”, stated Reiterer.
