Lungiarü festively inaugurated as 26th Bergsteigerdorf

On 5 August, the village Lungiarü (South Tyrol, Italy) was inaugurated as the 26th “Bergsteigerdorf” (Mountaineering Village) and the first one in the Dolomites.

The village exhales traditional gastronomy, craftsmanship and Ladin culture. Efforts are taken by the municipality of Lungiarü as well as the Alpine Clubs aiming at unfolding sustainable tourism and life and thus treasuring the authenticity of villages in the Alpine region. Via the concept of “Bergsteigerdörfer”, the idea of the Alpine Convention is translated into practice.

The festivities took place in the scope of the “Roda dles Viles“ and were also dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Puez-Geisler/Puez-Odle Nature Park. Secretary General of the Alpine Convention, Markus Reiterer wishes all the best to Lungiarü as a Bergsteigerdorf and to become a driving force for further successful projects within and outside of the village.
