Adaption & innovation by preserving the roots but going forward at the same time is a basis for resilience. Mountaineering villages have proven to be already a good example and are dealing actively with the topic. “A concept such as the one which the Mountaineering villages have found and put into practice is a key, not only for sustainable development, but naturally also for resilience against challenges such as the current one” stated Secretary General of the Alpine Convention, Alenka Smerkolj.
29 Mountaineering villages from 5 Alpine countries undertook 2 premieres at their annual meeting on Friday 6 November 2020: the first digital meeting was also a further step to become even more international, as it was interpreted into the Alpine languages for the first time.
