ForumAlpinum

The ForumAlpinum is an interdisciplinary scientific conference series. It promotes international research cooperation on topics relevant to the entire Alpine arc, encompassing ecological, social, cultural, and economic dimensions. In the 1990s, the effects of increasing globalisation and climate change were the main foci.

After 2000, issues relating to landscape, nature, connectivity and protected areas, and their value for society and nearby metropolises came to the fore. Recently, the ForumAlpinum has focused on the value of Alpine resources such as water, energy, and biodiversity.

Since 2008, the Alpine Convention has joined the ForumAlpinum with different back-to-back formats. The resulting science–policy dialogue contributes to the implementation of sustainable development in the Alps.
