This December, the Reading Mountains Festival returns for its 12th edition to celebrate the cultural and natural heritage of the Alps. Over the years, the festival has evolved beyond its literary roots into a celebration of Alpine creativity in all its forms.
Taking place around International Mountain Day on 11 December, the festival invites communities across the Alpine region to explore the many ways we connect with mountain landscapes. Alongside book readings and author talks, the celebrations previously featured guided hikes, film screenings, photography exhibitions, and other events that invite participants to discover the Alps through different perspectives.
The registration of events is now open until 30 November 2026. An interactive map on the Reading Mountains Festival page will provide an overview of activities taking place across the Alps, making it easy to discover events near you. Throughout the Festival season, we will also regularly highlight registered events on our social media channels.
