A conference of the Alpine Regions has been held in Brdo pri Kranju (Slovenia) on the 9th March 2011 during the XIth Alpine Conference and it gave birth to a region network (including the Autonomous Province of Trento, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Veneto, Lower-Austria, Tyrol, Carinthia, Slovenia, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Rhône-Alpes). Its main objective is to coordinate regional policies on the implementation of the Alpine Convention within the territory of the Alps (see declaration* in the attachment).
Delegations of 13 Alpine regions of Austria, France, Switzerland and Italy, as well as Slovenian Presidency of the Alpine Convention, participated at the second Conference of Alpine regions on the 1st and 2nd March 2010 at Trento. In this occasion, an important progress has been made for the constitution of an interregional platform of discussion and cooperation, called “Network of Alpine regions” (see declaration* in attachment).
The first Conference of the Regions of the Alpine Convention was held in Chambéry on 12-13 February 2009. The chosen topic for the conference was transport, with special focus on intermodality. At the end of this event, the representatives of the Regions signed a declaration that commits the alpine regions to organizing meetings on strategic topics on a regular basis.
