are co-funded by the European Territorial Cooperation Programme
Alpine Space
(2007-2013). They cover different environmental themes and
promote sustainable development in the Alpine territory. You can find also a

ACCESS is a project whose aim is to improve accessibility and connectivity,
which is crucial for normal functionality of remote Alpine settlements. It
stimulates organizational innovations in sparsely populated rural mountain
areas and stresses the importance of equal accessibility of services of general
interest. It promotes new forms of organization of general services, using of
ICT – information and communication technologies (including internet) and
demand oriented integrated mobility systems.

The project AlpCheck2 aims at creating a road transport model covering the
whole Alpine area that supports the public decision makers by providing free
on line access to different kind of data on traffic issues: actual traffic data,
simulations on future expectations, environmental data on various kinds of
emissions, proposed solutions and introduction of innovative technologies. The
goal is to improve quality of life and stimulate competitiveness within Alpine
regions by using innovative transport managing and planning tool.

Alp Water Scarce
Alp-Water-Scarce is a project aiming to develop water management strategies
and an early warning system to prevent the Alps from water scarcity.

CLISP focuses on the challenges to spatial planning in the face of climate
change and shall contribute to climate change adaptation by providing
climate-proof spatial planning solutions. CLISP is committed to positioning
spatial planning as a key player for future sustainable development under the
adversities of climate change.

CO2 Neutralp
CO2 NeutrAlp is a project build with the objective to demonstrate that
environmentally friendly mobility is feasible thanks to renewable energies. 15
partners from five Alpine Countries will be testing the hypothesis and
exploring the problems of how mobility could enter the solar age.

The ECONNECT project aims at the enhancement of ecological connectivity
across the Alpine range, and the Alpine Convention is directly involved in the
project, altogether with scientific institutions and local implementation
partners. All these entities have joined forces to demonstrate the need for
connectivity across the Alps as well as exploring the best options for
coordinated action and the development of innovative tools.

iMONITRAF! (Monitoring of road traffic related effects in the Alpine Space and
common measures) the objective of the project is to develop a broad political
network of Alpine regions and common strategies for transalpine traffic, is
operational since October 2009 and it pursues innovative measures for more
sustainable regional development through negative effects reduction of
transalpine road traffic.

Ecological conditions for alpine forest are changing under the effect of climate
change, with unknown effects on the forest’s essential protective, ecological,
economical and social functions. MANFRED is a project willing to bridge the
gap between research and practical forest management in order to improve
adaptive management to the forest natural heritage. 

The objective of the PermaNET project is to contribute to the mitigation of natural hazards that result from climate change impacts on alpine permafrost. The creation of an alpine-wide monitoring network and the development of a common strategy to deal with permafrost related hazards should contribute to sustainable development and the implementation of good governance practices. Synthesis Report

This project supports development of sustainable hydropower production in
Alpine rivers ecosystems. As the most important renewable resource for
electricity production in Alpine territory hydropower has some advantages on
the global CO2 balance, but in the mean time has several serious impacts on
the environment. Transnational partnership intends to develop, test and
promote a decision support system to merge on an unprejudiced base, river
ecosystems and hydropower requirements. This is an important challenge for
the mountain territories, in order to balance final customer needs with
environmental protection.

SILMAS is a programme that provides suistainable instruments for lakes
management in the Alpine Space. It deals with the following fields: water
management, governance, climate change and education / institutional
learning. Natural and artificial lakes are a main characteristic of the Alpine
Space and belong to the European heritage which have to be restored and
preserved. Programme, by exchanging good practices, sharing experiences
and testing new methods, will supply its 15 partners from five countries
(Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Germany, France) with efficient tools.
