PHENOALP
The PhenoAlp transborder project, led by the Aosta valley region (I) aims to set up an integrated methodology for the analysis of climate change on the phenology of vegetation and animals in the Alps. Besides the scientific research dimension of the project, PhenoAlp partners will engage in concrete monitoring, realized in a participatory spirit in order to raise awareness about alpine environmental challenges towards the public at large but also in schools.

Energy Excellency in Tourism Industry (EETI)
The Project & site of Hotel Energy Solutions is built to deliver information, technical support & training to help small or medium-size European hotels increase their energy efficiency & use of renewable energy. Hotel & restaurant owners are invited to participate to a survey, that altogether with a pilot test runned with 25 hotels in 4 majors European destinations (Alps is one of them), should result in a toolbox designed to help decision-making in energy efficiency in that sector.
The project is run in collaboration and with the support of the French Agency for the Energy (ADEME), the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the UN program for the Environment (UNEP), the International Restaurant & Hotel Association (IHRA), and the European Council for Renewable Energies.
Regions for Sustainable Change (RSC) is a partnership that seeks, through regional cooperation, to promote a wider shift to climate-friendly economies, as well as to identify opportunities for, and the costs and effects of, moving to a low-carbon economy. The project demonstrates how regional authorities can monitor their progresses in that field through a tailor-made indicator: the climate confidence index.
ESPON CLIMATE - Climate Change and Territorial Effects on Regions and Local Economies in Europe
This project shall analyse how and to which degree climate change will impact on the competitiveness and cohesion of European regions and Europe as a whole. In addition, it shall investigate in which way policy can contribute to mitigate climate change, and to adapt to and manage those results of climate change that cannot be avoided, while making sure that synergies of mitigation and adaptation policies are being exploited.
Bioregions
The project will support the creation of "bioenergy regions" in rural areas of Europe. A "bioenergy region" gets at least 1/3 of its heating and electricity needs from regional and sustainable bioenergy sources, with main focus on solid biomass.
BioRegions will:
- Support the development of efficient and reliable markets for solid biomass in the five target regions.
- Stimulate investment into bioenergy projects and trading businesses of local Stakeholders.
- Inspire further rural areas to follow the example of the target regions.
